Darlington - residential driveway extension

Updated: Jun 20, 2022

The first three photos show a proposed driveway extension which has been excavated and made ready for the installation of roadbase.

The following three photos show the same areas with the sub-base levelled, compacted, covered with a 100mm thick layer of roadbase compacted and waterbound.

The following two photos show the same areas straight after the area was tacked with a bitumen emulsion and sealed with a 25mm thick layers of 7mm granite black hotmix.

The surface was temporarily stained due to the works in progress - by the following day the rain had washed off the roadbase stains leaving behind a tidy black surface.

The new completed works are at the bottom of an existing steep driveway. The low side of the driveway was not kerbed to allow for water run off. The owners will be placing rocks along the edges to break up the water flow.
