Armadale - traffic island modification for emergency vehicles

Updated: Jan 20, 2022

The first three photos show part of a traffic island to be removed to allow access for emergency vehicles.

The concrete kerb, brickpaving and excess fill was excavated and removed from site.

On excavation a high voltage electrical wire was located and a service lid was installed for future access.

Roadbase was installed @ 150mm, compacted and waterbound.

Bitumen tack emulsion and 50mm thick layer of 10mm granite black hotmix/asphalt was laid and compacted flush with the surrounding area.

The area was lightly sprinkled with sand to allow for immediate traffic use.
